Super Visa

The Canada Super Visa is a multiple-entry visa that allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to visit Canada for extended periods of time. It is valid for a period of up to 10 years and allows the holder to stay in Canada for up to 5 years at a time.

If you want to visit Canada for 6 months or less, you should apply for a regular visitor visa.

Starting on July 4, 2022, the length of stay for Canada Super Visa holders is increased to up to 5 years at a time. If your application was approved before this date and you enter Canada after July 4, 2022, you will be eligible for a stay of up to 5 years. If your application is approved after July 4, 2022, you will also be eligible for a stay of up to 5 years.

If you entered Canada with a valid Super Visa before July 4, 2022, the length of stay granted to you by the border services officer at the time of entry will remain the same, unless you leave Canada before the end of your authorized stay and re-enter after July 4, 2022. In this case, the border services officer may grant you a length of stay of up to 5 years if you continue to meet all of the eligibility requirements for a Super Visa. Alternatively, you can apply to extend your stay in Canada and be approved for an extension of up to 2 years.

NOTE: It is important to note that as a Canada Super Visa holder, you must renew and maintain your medical insurance while in Canada and upon re-entry.
