Temporary Resident Permit

A temporary resident permit (TRP) is a document issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that allows non-Canadian citizens to temporarily live, work, or study in Canada. TRPs are issued to individuals who are not eligible to enter or stay in Canada under the normal rules of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), but who are deemed to be inadmissible on a case-by-case basis.

TRPs are typically granted for specific purposes, such as medical treatment, business, or humanitarian reasons. To be eligible for a TRP, you must be able to demonstrate that you have a valid reason for entering or remaining in Canada and that you will leave Canada at the end of the authorized period. You may also need to meet certain requirements, such as having a clean criminal record and being in good health.

If you are approved for a TRP, it will list the conditions of your stay in Canada, including the length of time you are permitted to stay and any restrictions on your activities while you are in Canada. TRPs may be issued for a single entry, multiple entries, or for a specific period of time.

Eligibility

One of the main eligibility criteria for TRP is that; your purpose of your visit to Canada outweighs any potential risks to the health or safety of Canadian society. It is important to note that even if the reason for your inadmissibility seems minor, you must still be able to demonstrate that your visit to Canada is justified.
