Eligibility

Below are some of the basic requirements to apply for a visitor visa, but depending upon your reason to visit and county of origin you might require other documents:

  • have a valid passport

  • be in good health

  • have no criminal or immigration-related conviction

  • convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit

  • you may also need a medical exam and a letter of invitation from someone who lives in Canada.

  • proof of your financial ability to support yourself during your stay in Canada

  • must have proof of your ties to your home country (e.g., evidence of a job or property ownership) that will take you back to your home country

  • proof of your travel plans (e.g., a letter from a tour company or hotel reservations)
